New Neighbor Baskets ::
Do you remember how it used to be? A moving truck pulled into the neighborhood and before you could turn around 3 neighbors were there introducing themselves with plates of fresh baked cookies, tuna casserole, and their “famous apple pie.”  As a church we would like to help you get to know your new neighbors! Have you have noticed a moving truck in your neighborhood? Or perhaps you have a neighbor you have just never met? Come out to the visitor table on Sundays and pick up a “New Neighbor Basket.” It is chock full of goodies like a travel mug, coffee, tea, biscotti, candy, etc. It also contains vital information about the church. We would love you to use this as an opportunity to get to know you neighbors and invite them to join you here at CLUMC. We have plenty of baskets, so please take advantage of this wonderful opportunity to share the love of Christ! For more information contact Annette Johnson at 281-488-5111, x140.

Church Staff Positions Open ::

Youth Director
CLUMC is seeking a full-time Youth Director. Salary commensurate with education and experience. Job description provided upon request. Contact Rev. John R. Stephenson, 281-488-5110. Send resumes or any questions to john@clearlakemethodist.org.

It is with a very mixed sense of feelings that I must announce to you that our youth director, Amanda Grubbs, is leaving our Church staff to enter into Seminary in the fall as a full-time student at Brite Divinity School, TCU.
Amanda has done an outstanding job with our youth over the past year, and we will certainly miss her. She has exhibited many wonderful gifts for ministry in our midst and she has used them faithfully and effectively. This has only served to confirm her sense of calling into Ordained Ministry and she has now concluded she can do no other thing than to follow that calling as she enters school as a full-time student.
- Rev. Tony Vinson

Tuesday Morning Eucharist ::
     One of the greatest joys of the Christian life is sharing in Holy Communion. Somehow Christ’s presence is mysteriously real as we share in this sacrament. You are invited to come and share communion with members of the church staff every Tuesday at 8:30am in the Laffin chapel (the little chapel at the west end of the narthex in the sanctuary.) In addition to communion we join together in singing hymns and receive inspiration from a different member of the church staff each week as they offer a short devotional. This short morning service is over at 8:50am. Feel free to call Rev. John Stephenson if you would like more information.

Communion Stewards Needed ::
 We are in need of Communion Stewards for the first weekend of every month. You can volunteer for either an hour and a half on Saturday afternoon for set up or Sunday after the 11am service for clean-up. If interested, please call Ann Lewis at 281-286-3058. Thank you!

Ushers Needed ::

Communion in the Chapel ::
Every Sunday, except the first Sunday of the month, Communion and a time of quiet reflection are offered in the Laffin Chapel from 10:40-11am. Anyone who wishes may enter the chapel, partake of Communion, and spend time in quiet meditation. Although Communion is only offered once a month during our church services, Communion in the Chapel allows you to reflect on Christ’s sacrifice and your forgiveness any Sunday. We welcome all.

Care Circle Coordinators Needed ::
One of the most effective and rewarding volunteer opportunities at Clear Lake United Methodist Church is that of a Care Circle Coordinator. Our goal is to have every church member in a Care Circle. A care circle is made up of people in our neighborhoods, who get to know each other and support each other. Sometimes this might be as simple as getting to know church members in your neighborhood. Being part of a Caring Circle is another way to stay connected to your church family. Your own family, or one of your neighbors might need additional support during a hospital stay, or the death of a family member. This might be done by calls, cards or sometimes providing meals if they are needed. If you would like more information please contact Linda Rockett at 281-334-2556.

GriefShare ::
Sunday nights, 6pm, Rm. 425
GriefShare is a special weekly seminar and support group for people who are grieving the death of someone close to them. It’s a place to be around people who understand what you are feeling. At GriefShare, you’ll learn valuable information about recovering from your grief and renewing your hope for the future. GriefShare meets upstairs in the Flanders Building from 6 to 8pm in room 425. Child care is available for those who need it. For more information contact Rev. Harold Travis at 281-488-5110, x105 or Linda Bracey 281-484-1666.

C.A.R.E.S. Support Group ::
Monday, July 21
7pm in Room 424

Come join a group of people seeking understanding of diversity as family and friends of homosexual persons. We welcome all who are looking for a supportive community to share feelings in a confidential setting. The C.A.R.E.S. Support Group meets on the third Monday of the month at 7pm in room 424/426. More information can be found at groups.yahoo.com/group/clumccares/.

Opportunities for Families to Serve Together! -
Ever wondered what happens to the sign-in sheets in the folders in the pews? Have you ever wondered if there was an opportunity for your entire family to serve together in service at church? Well, we have a few openings for families to work together in service as an Attendance Sheet Collector.   Approximately every other month, your family could stay after the 11am worship service and tear out the sheets from the folders followed by turning the sheets into the membership office. The information from these sheets will then be entered into our computer system on Monday mornings by our Attendance Clerks. If this sounds like an opportunity you and your family would enjoy, contact Linda Brackeen at 281-488-5111, x104.

Military Addresses Needed ::
We are currently updating our list of Active Duty Military Addresses. Please submit any addresses you have for loved ones or friends who are serving our country in any branch of the military. Please email them to Stacey Sweet or call her at 281-488-5111, x220.

CLUMC Sermons & PodcastsSermons Online ::
We are glad you are interested in listening to the sermons from our Sunday Worship Services. We have both Traditional and Contemporary services online. Our sermons are available in the .mp3 format so you can download directly to your computer or you can subscribe to our Sermon Podcasts.

mp3 files...
We have provided the files in the .mp3 format. You can download the files to your computer to enjoy via any .mp3 player including iTunes (which can be downloaded here) or you can listen via Window's Media player (which can be downloaded here.) There is also a direct download link on each sermon file that you can right-click with your mouse and choose "save as" to download the file to your computer to open in your choice of player.

Podcasts... (free!)
We are also making our sermons available as Podcasts. Subscribing to our sermon podcasts is free! You'll automatically receive new sermons as soon as they're released. Think of podcasting like a subscription to a newspaper. Once you subscribe to the podcast, it will automatically update new content (in this case, an audio copy of a sermon) to your reader as it becomes available. The content is downloaded to your PC, Mac or mobile device so you can access it whenever you want. Even though the name implies the requirement of an iPod, you actually don't need an iPod to subscribe to podcasts. All you need is a computer, some software, and an internet connection.
