Habitat for Humanity

Purpose:
Construct homes for low income families.

Description:
Habitat for Humanity is a non-profit ecumenical Christian housing ministry that seeks to eliminate
sub-standard housing from the face of the earth by partnering with low income families to build adequate and affordable housing that is sold to the family without profit or interest.

Requirements for Home Ownership:
Families who qualify from the application process will be considered to purchase a home at a low cost and no interest over a 20-25 year mortgage. Accepted future homeowners along with family and friends are required to perform 350 hours of service to the Habitat ministry before taking title to a home.

Volunteer Roles:
CLUMC volunteers have been involved with this ministry since 1993 and will again be supplying labor, funding, and leadership as we commence building houses 40 and 41 on Arkansas Avenue in Dickinson.

We work every Thursday and Saturday from 8:00 am to 2:00 pm. If you have or desire to learn skills in house building then Habitat is for you. Volunteers are also needed to prepare and serve lunches to the Saturday work crews.

Adults and youth (14 -18) are invited to perform craft or other work in accordance with their experience. If no experience we offer on the job training. There are also many tasks that do not require specific skills.
