Welcome to the CLUMC Singles website!
The Singles ministry at CLUMC seeks to glorify Jesus Christ by reaching out with caring hearts and hands to single adults so that they may grow in their faith as they learn to love as Jesus loves. Our singles ministry is made up of three components:
Sunday School
Our Sunday School class is called the Single Navigators, which meet at 9:30am in Elrod 422 for singles ages 45+. Dynamic group discussion is an integral part of each scripturally-based study. Opportunities for fellowship and social activities are scheduled weekly. Periodically, the Mission Committee plans a service project in which the whole class is encouraged to participate.
Life Together Groups
As singles, we need friends who will accept us, love us, and encourage us to live the Christian life. Life Together Groups, designed specifically for singles, are the best way we know how to create that kind of Christian community. In Life Together Groups, singles live the Christian life together by meeting weekly in one another’s homes for study, prayer, fellowship, service, worship, and mission. Call Rev. Andrew Thompson at 281-488-5111 x133 to get connected with a Life Together Group.
Fellowship Events
We offer at least one fellowship event every month just for singles. Our fellowship activities include pot-luck dinners, movie nights, mission activities, trips to the Alley Theater, weekend retreats and much more. We also encourage “meet-ups” through our Clear Lake United Methodist Singles meet-up group located at meetup.com/ClearLakeSingles. “Meet-ups” are smaller get-togethers for Christian Singles in the Bay Area sponsored by our church.

What in the world IS Singles Ministry anyway?

As long as I've been working in full-time ministry, I've been ministering to singles. I should have all the answers...but I don't. As best I can figure it out, you've surfed onto this page because of one or more of the following reasons:
1. You are a single adult (age 18 to dead - a HUGE span of generations; you are never-married, divorced, widowed)
2. You are interested in friendship and/or romantic relationship with good people.
3. You are looking for a way to partner with this church in ministry - i.e. you want to study the bible, serve the poor, etc, etc and "singles" fits better than "children's ministry".
The challenge is that the only thing this wide demographic has in common is...NOTHING. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure that some of us can find things that are in common (I like cats, do you?)...but the thing that binds this ministry together is not a something, but a lack of something (namely a spouse). That's like trying to organize a club for people who don't wear plaid! What are they going to talk about? You can only talk about not-wearing-plaid for so long. And why don't they wear plaid? Maybe they simply haven't found any plaid clothing that they like yet. Maybe they used to have a plaid blouse, but their best friend stole it from them. Maybe their favorite treasured pair of plaid trousers ripped apart and they simply cannot bear to buy any more plaid! Do you get the picture? Some are interested in dating, some aren't. Some are looking for a mate, others are just looking for friendship. Some are young, some used to be young. ;)
It is our goal as a church to provide ministry both of and to single adults...but our success largely depends on YOU. Join (AND PLAN) a Meetup (meetup.com/clearlakesingles); attend the Single Navigators Sunday school class; sign up for a singles Life Together Group; offer to facilitate a short-term study. Because our ministry to singles is also a ministry of singles.

Single Moms Ministry - Thursdays ::
Our Single Moms Ministry provides a great opportunity to grow in Christ together and connect through prayer, Bible study, book studies and fellowship. We meet on Thursdays from 6:30-7:30pm in Flanders 423. Childcare is available upon request.
We are also planning to go to dinner every 3rd Thursday of each month. We are starting a devotional January 29 called “Single Servings.” On Friday, February 26, we are going to the Woodlands United Methodist Church for a Single Mom event , 6-9pm, which features the speaker, Angela Thomas, author of “My Single Mom Life”.

a New Kind of Singles Ministry*
If you’re interested in Singles Ministry at our church, you need to join meetup.com/clearlakesingles. As a member of our CLUMC meet-up group, you’ll be sent invitations to all kinds of get-togethers with which our church is involved that are designed just for singles! And better than that, if you’re a member of our church, you can organize your own Clear Lake UMC “meet-ups” through this easy-to-use site. Want to organize a trip to the theater? Schedule a meet-up. Want to go bowling? Meet-up. Want to plan a cycling trip? Meet-up. Your meet-up might even be as simple as grabbing coffee at Starbucks, going walking with a few friends, or carpooling to Metro Bible Study. Whatever interests you have, doing them together with some new friends makes them even more fun.
