    No one is a Christian alone. No one. Like it or not, we are on this journey of faith together. We are brother and sister. We are community. We are Jesus in skin. And if that is true, it dramatically changes the way we live.
    Singles are invited to be transformed on Saturday, September 25 in the Wesley Center at 7pm as Terry Hershey speaks on “Jesus In Skin.” Author, humorist, inspirational speaker, ordained minister, golf addict, Terry divides his time between designing sanctuary gardens and sharing with the world his practice of “pausing” and “sanctuary” to help us do less and live more. To hear Terry is not just to gain information. It is an experience. And everywhere Terry speaks, the feedback is unanimous, “Terry Hershey was truly humorous, enlightening and inspiring all in one. He gave us permission to be embraced by grace. He was truly a highlight of our year!”

Giving the Ministry Away: Relax, Refuel, Restart - Saturday, September 25

What does it mean to find balance in a fast paced highly competitive world? How do we juggle work and family? How do we separate the essential from the superfluous? What are the root causes to a cluttered or imbalanced life? Terry Hershey – author, humorist, inspirational speaker, and ordained minister – will lead us through the answers to these questions in the transformational leadership seminar “Giving the Ministry Away” on Saturday, September 25, from 9am to 12 noon in the Wesley Center. Church leaders, lay leaders, small group leaders, Sunday school leaders, and really all Christians will find this seminar to be empowering, engaging, and refreshing. Among other things, you’ll learn to communicate effectively, to prevent burn-out, to invest in people over programs, and to empower and mobilize leaders.

     If your non-Christian family member asked you, “Why did Jesus die?” would you be able to give a good answer? And why should we read the Bible? Is it really trustworthy? How does prayer work anyway? And how can I know if God is guiding me? We’ll explore these questions and more in the Alpha Course.
     Alpha is a 10-week course with a one-day weekend retreat that addresses the basics of the Christian faith. Whether you’re a skeptic, a new believer, or a lifelong Christian, you will enjoy this enlightening course. Alpha groups will begin meeting in homes on Thursday, January 28 at 6:30pm.

Christianity’s Family Tree - book by Adam Hamilton - This book presents a welcoming, inspiring vision of eight Christian denominations and faith traditions. Comparing the Christian family to our own extended families, it contends that each denomination has a unique, valuable perspective to offer on the Christian faith. The traditions examined are Orthodoxy, Catholicism, Lutheranism, Presbyterianism, Anglicanism, Baptists, Pentecostalism, and Methodism. For each group, Hamilton gives a brief history, outlines major beliefs, and describes some things we can learn from that tradition to strengthen our own Christian faith. This 9-week class begins on Monday, September 13 at 7pm and ends on November 8. Cost $12/book.
