October is Pastor Appreciation Month

“The elders who direct the affairs of the church well are worthy of double honor, especially those whose work is preaching and teaching.” - Timothy 5:17
October is Pastor Appreciation Month. This is a great opportunity to honor our pastors and their families. A card, a promise to pray . . . simple things to do, yet they mean so much. Paul’s admonition to “serve one another in love” (Gal. 5:13) should encourage us to remember our pastors. By serving your shepherd, you will ensure that they will not only be encouraged, but will feel appreciated and continue to minister with enthusiasm and energy.

Family Celebration of Clear Lake UMC's 50th Anniversary - Sunday, November 23

Sunday, November 23
You are invited to a Family Celebration of Clear Lake UMC's 50th Anniversary...
All-Church 50th Anniversary Worship Celebration

6pm, Gateway Community Church, 760 Clear Lake City Blvd., Webster
Rev. Morris Matthis will be the guest speaker

Clear Lake UMC has been clearly demonstrating the love of Christ to our community since 1964.
It’s time to recognize where we’ve been and where we are going.

Please join us as we welcome back many former pastors, youth leaders, choir directors, and organists, along with charter members, former members and old friends who have moved to other areas.
We are uniting all of our congregations – Traditional, Contemporary, and Celebración Servicio en Español - including all of our children and youth - for a magnificent night of worship and celebration. So many people worship at Clear Lake UMC that we have no room large enough to hold us all. Our friends at the Gateway Community United Methodist Church are partnering with us to provide us with space for our service in their 1700-person worship center. We hope to have it bursting at the seams.
The glorious, blended service will include hymns and songs in the styles of all three of our worship formats. An anthem composed specifically for this anniversary will be sung for the first time that evening by our combined choirs and contemporary band. We will also enjoy a video produced by John Hatfield highlighting significant events in our history and hear reflections from our former pastor Reverend Morris Matthis.
Annette Johnson will have a special treat for the children during children’s time, and children will also participate in the processional of historic banners and in the children’s choir specifically gathered for this occasion. We are hoping that many children who don’t ordinarily sing in the children’s choir will want to be a part of this unique celebration. You will hear more about this soon from the music department.
Our service will conclude as we unite together with God for Holy Communion.
This night of worship is designed for the whole family, although there will be a nursery for babies and preschoolers at Gateway that parents may use if they so desire.
You won‘t want to miss this special time of thanksgiving and commemoration. Mark your calendars now for Sunday, November 23, 6-7:30pm at Gateway Church, 760 Clear Lake City Blvd, Webster, TX 77598
