Emergency
Planning Task Force
@ Clear Lake UMC
Purpose:
Throughout the past two years, the CLUMC Emergency Planning Taskforce researched disasters and disaster planning; the result of all their hard work is the Family Emergency Planning Guide. This comprehensive booklet contains vital information about actions to take to protect against harm from hurricanes, floods, tornadoes, and other natural disastrous events. You will want to become familiar with this information and make plans for your own family to maximize your family's safety should one of these dangerous conditions strike the Bay Area. Copies are being distributed in the Parlor after worship services. Please take only one per family. You may also download the guide above. For more information, contact Don Sellers from the Emergency Planning Task Force.
In case of emergencies, we are creating a
church-wide database of emails. If you would
like to participate, send yours to blanche@clearlakemethodist.org.

Partners in Preparedness:
The Office of Disaster Preparedness and Response Planning of Interfaith Ministries of Greater Houston provides training, guidance and technical assistance to congregations to become Disaster Resistant and helps them coordinate and implement long-term recovery efforts after a disaster. Clear Lake United Methodist Church has decided to use the IMGH program to develop a comprehensive Disaster Preparedness and Response Program specifically designed to fit the needs of our Church, congregation and community.
"Every congregation should have a plan."
We have created a team to help our church be more proactive in preparing for and responding to disasters of all kinds, including hurricanes. The members of that team attended a training session offered by Interfaith Ministries and are currently working on our church’s plan that will:
- Protect our church staff and families from
man-made and natural disasters.
- Care for vulnerable members in times of disaster.
- Enable you to create your own family disaster plan.
- Assess our congregation’s risk level for different types of disasters.
- Protect our congregation’s business capabilities before, during and after a disaster.
- Establish strategies for reaching out to the community before and after disasters.
